CURAÇAO PEOPLE'S VICTORY IN THE PROCESS OF STRUGGLE FOR
DIALOGUE ON AGRARIAN REFORM NOW & NOT TOMORROW
On July 10, 1987 Roman Catholic priest Father Rudy Lampe called for an end to a FASTING AND PRAYER ACTION that had been started five days earlier. Lampe had initiated this protest action with Eugène Godfried, then President of the Koperativa di Agrikultornan di Korsou , KOPAK, (FARMERS COOPERATIVE OF CURAÇAO) in the church CHRIST THE GOOD SHEPHARD in the populous working class area of Koral Specht, a suburb of the capital Willemstad..
Catholics and representatives of all social sectors gathered persistently for 5 days 24 hours around the clock to support this democratic and pacific action to resist the
distrastrous decisions taken by the dominant political system against agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries in Curacao. The political regime had been refusing to dialogue with farmers and their representation KOPAK.
Finally, on July 10,1987 the dominant political system, as represented by Lieutenant Governor Ronald Casseres, decided to make an important step back and received Eugène Godfried, President of Koperativa di Agrikultornan di Korsou , KOPAK, to begin the process of dialogue.
With this important success the MOVEMENT FOR AGRARIAN REFORM became an everlasting fact that could never be eliminated from the history of the prople of Curaçao.
In 2008, pressed by the current economic, social, and political crisis, we the militants of KOPAK as well as representatives of other social sectors have joined forces to create MOVEMENTU 10 DI YÜLI
(JULY 10 MOVEMENT) with the objective of retaking the struggle for DIALOGUE ON AGRARIAN REFORM NOW AND NOT TOMORROW.
Our first action is to commemorate, celebrate and meditate on the glorious and victorious date of July 10, 1987. A variety of actions will follow to defend the cause of AGRICULTURE, ALIMENTATION AND HEALTH for our people. Let us unite and persist for AGRARIAN REFORM NOW AND NOT TOMORROW!!

VICTORIA DEL PUEBLO DE CURAZAO EN EL PROCESO DE LUCHA PARA
EL DIALOGO SOBRE LA REFORMA AGRARIA AHORA NO MAÑANA
El día 10 de Julio de 1987 el Padre Rudy Lampe decidió terminar la ACCION DE AYUNO Y RESO que él había iniciado el Domingo anterior a esa fecha junto con Eugène Godfried, Presidente en esos momentos de la Koperativa di Agrikultornan di Korsou , KOPAK, (COOPERATIVA DE AGRICULTORES DE CURAZAO) en la Iglesia Kristu Bon Wardador/ CRISTO BUEN PASTOR en el barrio popular de Koral Specht en la capital de Willemstad.
Católicos y representantes de otros sectores salieron en cantidades incontables para apoyar persistentemente esta acción democrática y para dar resistencia a las decisiones funestas tomadas por el sistema politico dominante en contra de los agricultures y pescadores de la isla. Hasta rehusaron dialogar con la representación de los agricultures, KOPAK.
Finalmente, el dia 10 de Julio de 1987 el sistema politico dio un paso importante atras. El Teniente Gobernador Ronald Casseres recibió a Eugène Godfried, Presidente de la Koperativa di Agrikultornan di Korsou , KOPAK, para iniciar el proceso de diálogo.
Con este trasendental logro el MOVEMIMIENTO PARA LA REFORMA AGRARIA se ha convertido en un hecho duradero en nuestra sociedad de Curazao. Esto indudablemente significó un triunfo contundente de nuestro pueblo, porque se trata de una lucha con un final glorioso y exitoso para nuestro pueblo que jamás podrá ser eliminado de la historia la isla caribeña de Curazao.
Presionado por la crisis económica, social y política en la actualidad, nuestros milititantes juntos con representantes de otros sectores sociales se han reunido ahora en el MOVEMENTU 10 DI YÜLI./ MOVIMIENTO 10 DE JULIO. Decidimos retormar la lucha para continuar el proceso de DIALOGO SOBRE LA REFORMA AGRARIA AHORA Y NO MAÑANA.
Nuestra primera acción sera recordar, celebrar y meditar sobre la gloriosa y victoriosa fecha de 10 de Julio 1987. Seguirán varias acciones en defensa de LA AGRICULTURA, ALIMENTACION Y SALÚD de nuestro pueblo. Unamos la fuerza para persistir en la realización de LA REFORMA AGRARIA AHORA Y NO MAÑANA!!!
