1. Hommage to Changui of Guantanamo

While saluting the Haitian Independence which took place on January 1st of 1804, we want to remember the significant Haitian presence in the Caribbean and Cuba. In particular, Cuba's eastern region from Guantanamo to Ciego de Avila knows this strong Haitian presence. The influences in a cultural sense are indubitable. One of the oldest genres in popular Cuban music is the Changui of Guantanamo, which is strongly influenced by Haitian and Caribbean immigrants. We have prepared a selection of changui songs for your delight and information.

2. Homenaje al Changui de Guantanamo.

En el marco de las persistentes conmemoraciones de la fecha de independencia de Haiti, Primero de Enero 1804, recordamos tambien la contribucion Haitiana a la formacion de las culturas regionales del Caribe. Cuba es un caso claro de esto. Conoce inmigracion de Haitianos, entre otros, desde aquella epoca que han tenido su influencia evidentemente sobre la figsionomia cultural cubana. Desde Guantanamo hasta Ciego de Avila se puede contar con la presencia haitiana en Cuba. Es un hecho que el Changui que es lo mas antiguo entre los generos musicales en Cuba tenga influencias ritmicas y melodicas de Haiti y otros paises vecinos. A disfrutar de la seleccion musical del changui que le hemos preparado.
